This is an original painting called The Monarch which was made very recently using Acrylic, Ink, and Watercolour on 300gsm watercolour paper.
It features Hester with Oscar the Cat and friends pausing at a huge tree in the centre of the forest. The Monarch refers to a similar tree that a family friend used to bow to on her walks along the wooded path to Ready Money Cove in Fowey Cornwall. We would be encouraged to bow to the Monarch whenever we passed it when on our summer holidays there. It is a motif (and a title) that I've used a couple of times as I like the idea of doing something so out of the ordinary as bowing to a tree and it also reminds me of Connie, a fabulous Canadian lady who taught us to revere our natural surroundings :)
The painting is one of the largest that I make and is approximately 594 x 420 mm (23.4" x 16.5") and is unmounted and unframed.
